I made my first steps in object creating and editing. Wow, I love it! I thought this spot had a great view.

Geodesic Dome in SL [Oct. 23rd, 2005|07:51 pm]
AvaD reminded me about the geodesic dome snapshots I promised you in a previous entry (back in March). So here they are:

I don't remember exactly where I found this. I searched for "dome" using the "Find" tool in Second Life. But is it really Geodesic?

More to come, snapshots of previous explorations in SL and of our event/meeting on Better World Island yesterday.

Organizations start to meet in 3D world! [Mar. 26th, 2005|05:59 am]
Mark Your Calendars and Ready Your Avatars: First ASF Second Life Future Salon on Thursday, April 28th.

Currently in four US cities, ASF's Future Salons are monthly mini-conferences for foresight, networking, and fun with a local futures community. This April 28th will see the launching of our newest salon inside the 3D digital world Second Life (SL) . Like its real world counter-parts, the SL Future Salon will provide an open opportunity to explore social, business, and technological futures with two or three specially invited speakers and a great group of guests, this time within the virtual frontier of the early 3D metaverse.

ASF Community Director Jerry Paffendorf is organizing the SL Salon as well as a preliminary meeting in Second Life on Thursday, April 21st (one week in advance).

If you've never used Second Life before, the preliminary meeting may be helpful for familiarizing yourself with its controls and working out any technical issues with your hardware so you'll be all set for the April 28th event. We also encourage you to get into SL and do some exploring of its remarkable user-created world on your own.

Second Life has a free seven day trial period (with credit card; 18+ only), and a payment of $9.99 will get you in for life. Once you're in SL , there's no recurring cost to attend the Future Salons (though you might end up wanting to purchase a virtual creation or two with virtual or real cash from one of SL's many, many talented builders). And since real world geography doesn't matter one lick in cyberspace, we hope to meet a lot of you there who don't live near enough to attend any of our regional salons.

More news about the SL Future Salon in the next ATimes as well as regular updates on Jerry's blog, Setpoint Originator . If you plan to attend the first SL Salon, please RSVP to Jerry . Volunteers, questions and suggestions for the event are very welcome. We hope to see a lot of you “in-world” for the first chapter of this innovative salon series!

Sims [Mar. 7th, 2005|10:13 pm]
Ah... I did it again. How come this game is so fascinating?

I am experimenting how I can make Noah and Elektrix Vosmox happy. I want them to have a child, a beautiful house... Isn't that the "American dream" in a certain way? It's quite interesting.

Yesterday evening was my first real time "playing" Sims, and I spent easily a few hours in it. Today, I was not feeling very well, and I was irritated by small things. Then, I realized I needed to sleep more, so that my "Energy" powerbar would go green, and my "Room" was not cleaned, so that was probably another reason. Realizing that made me laugh. Very educative: "How to become a happier person by playing Sims". :-)

Elektrix

P.S. I made some more very interesting explorations in Second Life during the last days. I visited one beautiful place called "The Lost Gardens" and discovered a Geodesic dome. I have taken snapshots and will share them in my journal soon.

Elek and 3D worlds [Mar. 1st, 2005|02:54 am]
Here are some snapshots taken during my explorations in Second Life last week:

I was visiting a nice virgin spot, called "Lotus", where to buy a land. I learned only after that I needed to pay a monthly fee to be able to buy one piece of land in SL.

There is not only clubs and markets in Second Life. Among my discoveries, this museum of philosophy, the Philosopheum.

My alter ego/avatar Elektrix relaxing in the Philosopheum.

The day after, I met Ava Dougall in a peaceful place. We were preparing for meditation, but for some reason we found ourselves lying on the mat.

Visiting the same peaceful spot the other day after, I found a tipi where I had some meditation.

This is not in Second Life, this is my first experience of making a 3D environment, with Bryce. I'm surprised at how much it's easy to set up such a scene...

PinealWeb [Feb. 4th, 2005|03:49 am]
There was so much incredible ideas about the Web around 1996-1997! It was directly stimulating the imaginary.

Read this:
"Welcome to PinealWeb, the browser that lets you surf the Internet directly from your third eye! Using patented GneoGnostic technology, PinealWeb is able to provide an immersive Web browsing experience by pumping data directly through your pineal gland.

Equilibrium [Sep. 14th, 2004|12:31 am]
How much would you say that someone playing 3D virtual games on the Internet is not using his/her energy to help save the planet? Do these people signifying that the Earth is not valuable? Or is there a way to keep playing and still care for the real world and nature?

What Do YOU think? :-)

Peace!
